TECHNICAL ADVICE
Pre-application process
of Electrostatic powder painting
For the paint to adhere correctly to the metal to be coated, the metal to be painted must be treated: degreasing the piece, pickling it, and applying a layer of phosphate (iron or zinc) by immersion or using a manual lance.
Painted:
Spray application of powder paint that adheres electrostatically to metal, generally on grounded and conductive parts. This stage is performed in a dedicated booth that collects and controls excess powder for reuse.
Cured:
The powder-coated part is baked at 180 degrees Celsius to allow the paint to polymerize and acquire its final finish. Powder coating has excellent adhesion and flexibility, allowing even bending, twisting, and slow deformation of parts. It is highly resistant to abrasion, corrosion, chemicals, and stains.
Furthermore, the powder paint It presents uniformity of painted thickness with a higher quality appearance due to the rounded edges and is thermosetting, with resistance to extreme weather conditions, such as sun, ultraviolet rays, heat, cold and humidity.
Al estar fabricada y aplicada sin el uso de disolventes, no emite gases tóxicos y produce un impacto ambiental muy bajo, sin emisión de VOC, peligro de inflamabilidad o necesidad de medidas de seguridad especiales para el almacenaje.
It does not require an anti-corrosive base application, nor does it require any mixtures or additives, and it can be used immediately without viscosity adjustments.
Currently its use is common in finishing metal elements, furniture, railings, structures, aluminum profiles, toys, bicycles, tools, car bodies, etc. because it is one of the cleanest and most efficient alternatives in the paint industry.
SUMMARY OF THE ELECTROSTATIC POWDER PAINT APPLICATION PROCESS.
The powder coating process can be considered the simplest and takes up a smaller area when compared to conventional systems.
It consists, as in conventional liquid systems, of 3 stages:
• Pretreatment of the substrate;
• Application of powder coating;
• Powder paint curing.
